TxDMV offers a Multi-Year Token Trailer Registration Program for trailers that qualify for Token Trailer license plates. This program helps business owners keep trailer registrations current without the hassle of annual renewals.

Program Details
- Registration period: choose between 1 and 5 years
- Semitrailers must have a gross weight over 6,000 pounds to qualify
- No minimum number of trailers is required to participate
How to Apply
- Visit TxFLEET
- Click on “Apply for Motor Carrier Account”
- Create a token trailer fleet at any time using either:
- New token trailers, or
- Trailers currently registered in Texas

Fees and Payment Information
- Token trailer registration costs $15 per year, plus any applicable local fees.
- The total amount is collected upfront for the full registration period selected at the time of initial registration (1–5 years).

- Electronic check (ACH)
- Credit card (a service charge of $0.25 plus 2.25% applies)

Token trailer fleet license plates are valid only when used on semitrailers that are:
- Pulled by trucks or truck-tractors with a manufacturer’s rated carrying capacity greater than one ton, and
- Properly registered with one of the following plate types:
- Combination
- Apportioned
- Forestry
- Seasonal Permit
