The 2019 UCR registration period is delayed until further notice while the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) completes its rulemaking process on fee levels for 2019.

Register or Renew your UCR

Register through the National Registration System, UCR at www.ucr.gov. This is a new paperless online registration system and no longer the Indiana system. We recommended that you use Chrome, Firefox or Edge when accessing this website. If you are using Internet Explorer you may experience multiple errors.

Go to www.ucr.gov and follow the computer prompts. The system is now enabled for all mobile devices.

If you operated in 2018 and did not register, you must complete the appropriate year registration online at www.ucr.gov.

Fees & Payment

The UCR fee is determined by the number of motor vehicles (excluding trailers) last reported by the carrier to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).

For purposes of determining fees, a commercial motor vehicle is defined as a self-propelled vehicle used on the highways in commerce, principally to transport passengers or cargo if the vehicle:

  • has a gross vehicle weight rating or gross vehicle weight of at least 10,001 pounds, whichever is greater;
  • is designed to transport more than 10 passengers, including the driver; or
  • is used in transporting hazardous materials in a quantity requiring placarding.
Fleet Size (Excluding Trailers) Fee per Company
0 - 2 $69
3 - 5 $205
6 - 20 $410
21 - 100 $1,431
101  -1,000 $6,820
1,001 and above $66,597

Companies operating solely as brokers, freight forwarders or leasing companies are required to register and pay a fee of $69.
