Equipment Replacement
TxDMV County Equipment Replacement Project (message from TxDMV Chief Operating Officer) 5/03
My name is Dawn Heikkila, I am the Chief Operating Officer for the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. Part of my responsibilities include acquisition, installation and support of agency IT equipment as well as the equipment provided to the County Tax Assessor Collectors.
At their April 14th board meeting, the TxDMV Board approved the County Equipment Replacement Project presented by the staff which will replace the aging equipment in County Tax Assessor Collector offices as well as their substation locations. The TxDMV Project Manager, Oscar Dominguez, is working with Vehicle Titles and Registration Division staff, Information Technology staff and our Purchasing staff to get this project underway. New RTS workstation equipment (PC, monitor, key-board and printers), will be purchased and distributed to County Tax Assessor-Collector sites based on the allocation model developed and maintained by the Vehicle Titles and Registration (VTR) Division. This model bases equipment allocation (RTS workstations) on transaction volumes.
One of the areas under consideration by the project team is printer specifications for areas identified as high transaction volume areas. The availability of high speed printers for areas with high transaction volumes, such as those using remittance scanners to process mail in renewals, will be considered based on the number of identified units, cost per unit and the project budget for equipment purchases.
The project team is aware of, and sensitive to, the need for new equipment for our County partners. As the project progresses, it is my intent to provide periodic updates.
