Capturing Replica Year and Make in Corrected Title Event

These documents contain text of correspondence sent by TxDMV to the county tax assessor-collectors, statutory agents who provide vehicle registration and titling services for citizens in Texas. This information is provided to apprise the general public of issues affecting the state's vehicle titling and registration process.

To inform you of a programming change in the Registration and Title System (RTS) to allow entry of the replica year and vehicle make in the corrected title application event. This will also add a "replica" brand to the Texas title when issued.

In a Listserv distributed on April 27, 2012, we advised that RTS did not allow the capture of replica year and vehicle make when processing a corrected title application and that a new original title would need to be created in order to complete the application. Programming changes to allow the entry of replica year and make in a corrected title application event will be implemented in the RTS 6.10.1 Release scheduled for June 25.

A screen shot of the TTL003 screen and a copy of RTB 004-12 outlining the Custom Vehicle and Street Rod program are attached for your convenience.

When processing a corrected title application for a custom vehicle and street rod, you must enter the year and make that the vehicle resembles in the "Year/Make" fields and in the "Replica Year/Make" fields on the TTL003 screen. Entering the same information into both fields will enable the correct year and make to appear on the title along with the "replica" brand in the remarks field. Since the replica year for all these vehicle transactions will be greater than 10 years old, "EXEMPT" must be entered in the "Odometer Reading" field to continue with the transaction.

Note: For records previously established as "assembled," if a customer wants to change their title from "replica" back to "assembled," contact your TxDMV Regional Service Center in order to review the vehicle history to determine the year that the vehicle was assembled.

If you have any questions, please contact your local TxDMV Regional Service Center.
