Registration and Title Bulletin - #056-11

Date: November 08, 2011

All County Tax Assessor-Collectors

Subject: New Oklahoma "Rebodied" Vehicle Certificate of Title.

These documents contain text of correspondence sent by TxDMV to the county tax assessor-collectors, statutory agents who provide vehicle registration and titling services for citizens in Texas. This information is provided to apprise the general public of issues affecting the state's vehicle titling and registration process.

To inform you that Oklahoma will issue a "Rebodied" certificate of title to vehicles meeting the state's definition.

Beginning November 1, 2011, the State of Oklahoma will issue a certificate of title with a "Rebodied" brand. For your convenience, the Oklahoma Tax Commission notification and a sample of the new "Rebodied" certificate of title are attached.

Oklahoma "Rebodied" titles will be yellow in color, display the year, make and model of the originally manufactured vehicle and the "Rebodied" brand. A new vehicle identification number (VIN) will be assigned to the vehicle. The "Rebodied" brand will be carried forward on all subsequent Oklahoma titles issued including salvage, rebuilt or junked titles.

Please familiarize yourself with the attached sample certificate of title. Applications for a Texas title involving Oklahoma "Rebodied" certificates of title surrendered to Texas should be branded as "Replica."
