To provide information regarding new features of Indiana Certificate of Title.
Effective January 24, 2011, Indiana began issuing their certificate of title (COT) for a motor vehicle on new paper stock with enhanced security features. Attached is a sample of the new COT from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, with an explanation of the new security features and format changes. All previous versions of Indiana titles will continue to be acceptable. The first title number of the new COT stock is 8805001.
In addition, the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles now uses a centralized system that issues license plates, vehicle registrations and decals from a central location. Vehicle registrations are automatically valid when payments are processed. Customers receive their license plates and registration documents in 10 to 14 days from their transaction date.
