Disabled Person Identification Placards |
Attachment
These documents contain text of correspondence sent by TxDMV
to the county tax assessor-collectors, statutory agents who provide
vehicle registration and titling services for citizens in Texas.
This information is provided to apprise the general public of issues
affecting the state's vehicle titling and registration process.
PURPOSE
To inform you of the newly revised Disabled Person
Identification Placards.
DETAILS
The Disabled Person Identification Placards (Red and Blue) have been
redesigned to accommodate the Inventory/Control Number being visible
on both sides of the placard. Other changes include:
- New 10-digit Inventory/Control Number that will be specific
to the color of the placard (i.e. B00000000P for Blue Placards
and R00000000P for Red Placards)
- The field for the entry of county number, the first four
digits of the applicant's driver license or personal
identification number and applicant's initials have been moved
to the top of the placard
- The hologram has been moved from the top of the placard to
just below the International Symbol of Access
These changes will provide better visibility by law enforcement
for inquiry purposes. Upon completion of programming changes to the
Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System, law enforcement
will be able to query the redesigned Disabled Person Identification
Placards (those with the new 10-digit Inventory/Control Numbers).
Attached is an example of the revised Blue Disabled Person
Identification Placard. The new placards will be shipped upon
depletion of existing stock.
