Wichita Falls District Permit Restrictions

These restrictions were ordered by the Texas Department of Transportation, Wichita Falls District. For questions about these restrictions, contact the following people in the district office:

County Date Restriction
All Counties, All Highways 01-06-11 Route Inspection Permits: Over 22’ wide and/or over 19’6” high in Wichita Falls District: The permit specialist must obtain district approval prior to issuing the permit.

Over 19’6” high: The mover must contact the Wichita Falls District Signals and Signs Coordinator at least 24 hours prior to entering any county in Wichita Falls District:
(940) 867-2215 cell or (940) 720-7769 office.

All Other Route Inspection Permits: When sending copies of route inspection permits to the district, the permit specialist must let them know how many batched loads are coming through their district during the same time period.
Archer County, SH25 07-29-14 22' max width between SH79 and FM368.

This is a permanent restriction.

    This affects all turns at this junction.

    This is due to overhead lights.
    Clay County, SH79 08-27-08 Over 11' wide must have a flagman to warn traffic as they travel on the center of the Red River bridge at the Oklahoma state line.

    Cooke County, IH35 NB to N.FM1307 SB 10-16-08 There is no access traveling IH35 NB to N.FM1307 SB.

    This is due to a low bridge in Oklahoma.

    Cooke County, US82 06-26-08 No lowboy type trailers allowed on the turnarounds/crossovers between the Cooke/Grayson County Line and FM678.

    Montague County, US81 WFR SB to N.US287 EFR NB 03-02-11 In Bowie: For traveling US81 WFR SB to N.US287 EFR NB:
  • 140’ max length for vehicles with non-steerable trailer axles.
  • 150’ max length for vehicles with steerable trailer axles.

    Montague County, JCT US81 & SH59 11-16-12 70' max length for all turns at JCT US81 & SH59.
    Montague County, JCT US82 & FM103 06-29-10 17’6” high and over: No movement at JCT US82 & FM103 during the weekdays, Monday – Friday.
    This restriction affects travel straight through on both highways and all turns at this junction.
    The mover may travel through here only during the weekends under the following conditions:

    This restriction also affects traveling straight through on US82, crossing US82 on Grayson St, and picking up from/dropping off to Grayson St.
    Grayson St is located approximately ¼ mile east of FM103.
    The mover may travel through here only during the weekends under the following conditions:
