Bryan District Permit Restrictions

These restrictions were ordered by the Texas Department of Transportation, Bryan District. For questions about these restrictions, contact the following people in the district office:

County Date Restriction
Bryan District, All Counties, All State Maintained Highways 08-05-10 Over 17' high:
The permit specialist must send a copy of the permit to the Bryan District office: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
The mover must contact Bryan District 24 hours prior to moving in any county Bryan District: (979) 778-2165 during the hours of 07:00 AM - 05:00 PM Monday through Friday.
The mover must use a TxDOT approved signal contractor to disconnect, temporarily raise, and reconnect any overhead mast arm or span wire assemblies. This work will be performed to satisfaction of TxDOT.
All costs will be the responsibility of the mover.
Brazos County, City of Bryan 05-19-15 Over 15' high: The mover must contact the City of Bryan Public Works, 24 hours prior to entering the Bryan city limits: (979) 209-5900.
Any vehicle requiring Bryan Police Department assistance: The mover must call 24 hours prior to entering Bryan city limits: (979) 209-5300.
This includes, but not limited to, the sections of SH6, SH21, and FM2818 inside the Bryan city limits.

This is a permanent restriction.
Brazos County, Cities of Bryan and College Station 07-02-10 All loads must be detoured around downtown Bryan and College Station by using FM2818 and/or SH6.
This restriction does not affect SH21 through Bryan.

This is a permanent restriction.

Temporary Blanket Approval:Up to 15' max width, 15' max height, 100' max length and/or all overweight vehicles with an origin and/or destination at A&M Kyle Field may travel to/from JCT FM2154 & FM2347 without approval.

Cities of Bryan and College Station
09-17-12 Curfew: 16'6" max height and/or 254,000 lbs GVW in the Bryan and College Station city limits during the hours of 07:00 - 08:30 AM and 03:30 - 06:00 PM.
Brazos County, SH6 WFR 07-20-15 In Bryan-College Station: No permits on the WFR between SH30 and Southwest Pkwy.
Southwest Pkwy is located approximately ¾ mile south of SH30.
Brazos County, SH6 WFR 04-10-15 11' max width on the WFR between FM1179 and FM60.
Brazos County, SH6 SB Entrance and Exit Ramps 04-10-15 No permits on all southbound Entrance and Exit Ramps between FM1179 and FM60.
Brazos County, Woodville Rd over SH6 in Bryan 09-25-12 In Bryan: 10' max width and/or 65' max length Woodville Rd crossing over SH6.
Woodville Rd is located approximately ¾ mile north of FM974.
Brazos County, SH21 08-10-15 In Bryan-College Station: 10' max width between BS6 and SH6.

Blanket approval: Manufactured housing with an origin or destination in this restriction may travel on following portions of SH21:
  • East side: Between ¼ mile west of SH6 and SH6
  • West side: Between BS6 and FM974
  • Brazos and Robertson Counties, FM50 02-06-13 Curfew: No width between E.SH21 and US79 from 07:00 - 08:00 AM and 03:00 - 05:00 PM Monday through Friday.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Brazos County, FM60 NE to SH47 NW 05-02-07 There is no access traveling FM60 NE to SH47 NW.
    Brazos County, JCT FM60 & FM2154 10-27-08 There is no access for the following turns at JCT FM60 & FM2154:

    Burleson County, FM166 12-07-09 No permits between SH36 and FM3058.
    Freestone County, JCT IH45 & FM489 06-08-05 There is no access for the following turns at JCT IH45 & FM489:
  • IH45 NB to FM489 EB
  • IH45 NB to FM489 WB
  • Freestone County, IH45 EFR 04-16-09 There is no access to/from IH45 main lanes to/from any part of IH45 EFR in Dew.

    The only way to access this part of IH45 EFR is by way of FM489.
    Freestone County, FM833 EB to SH75 NB 04-21-11 100' max length traveling FM833 EB to SH75 NB.
    Freestone County, FM3285 06-04-15 No width and/or no weight between FM2570 and PR64.
    Freestone County, SP114 01-27-05 FYI: When traveling IH45 SB to SP114 in Streetman, the maneuver is to exit to FM80 go under IH45 main lanes and then turn towards SP114.
    Grimes County, Navasota Truck Route 05-07-98 All permits must be routed around downtown Navasota via the truck route.

    Truck route: SH105 WB: "...SH105w, NAVASOTA: SP515w, BS6n, FM379w&n, SH105w..." REVERSE ROUTE FOR SH105 EB.

    Truck route:SH6 SB TO SH105 WB: "...SH6s, NAVASOTA: N.BS6s TO JCT FM3090...(DROP OFF TO CITY STREETS)...PICK UP AT JCT FM379 & SH105w..." REVERSE ROUTE FOR SH105 EB TO SH6 NB.

  • The law enforcement escorts must control traffic when the load travels under the UP Railroad bridge located just east of the Bell/Milam County line.
  • The mover must contact TxDOT's Milam County Maintenance Office at least one business day prior to entering this restriction: (254) 697-6629.
  • The mover must provide the TxDOT Maintenance Office the names and cell phone numbers of the escorts.

    Washington County, Chappell Hill area 08-01-13 Over 17’ high: The mover must contact the Washington County Maintenance Office, (979) 836-9350, prior to entering the Chappell Hill area on the following highways:
  • US290: From FM2447 to the Washington/Waller County line.
  • FM1155: Between FM1371 and 1 mile north of FM2447.

  • A TxDOT employee may be present with the load to assist the mover.

    This restriction does not apply to permits issued as house moves.
