Beaumont District Permit Restrictions

These restrictions were ordered by the Texas Department of Transportation, Beaumont District. For questions about these restrictions, contact the following people in the district office:

County Date Restriction
Beaumont District, Chambers, Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Newton, Orange, and Tyler Counties, All Highways 11-04-14 Over 18' high: The mover is under the following requirements:
  • The mover must contact the Beaumont District Signal Shop at least 48 hours prior to traveling in the district: (409) 898-5774 or (409) 201-3844 during business hours 08:00am-04:30pm Monday through Friday.
  • TxDOT approved signal contractors are required to disconnect, temporarily raise, and reconnect any illumination poles, overhead mast arm or span wire assemblies.
  • Anchor bolts must not be tampered with.
  • All work must be done to the satisfaction of TxDOT.
  • The mover is responsible for all costs.


  • This is a permanent restriction.
    Beaumont District, Chambers, Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Newton, Orange, and Tyler Counties, All Highways 11-10-14 Over 19' high: The mover must contact Entergy (utility company) at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call (800) 340-3605 and leave a message at least 48 hours prior to traveling in any county in Beaumont District.
    Beaumont District, All Counties, All Highways 11-04-14 All superheavy vehicles must travel only during the night hours between 9:00pm and 4:30am.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Chambers County, IH10 WB to SH73 EB 02-05-04 There is no access traveling IH10 WB to SH73 EB.
    Chambers County, SH99 toll road 02-05-04 No permits between Fisher Rd by Beach City and IH10.
    Fisher Rd is located approximately 4 miles south of FM565.

    SH99 is a toll road here.
    Chambers County, FM562 03-12-13 30' max width and/or 16' max height approximately between 3 ¾ miles west of FM1985 and 3 ½ miles west of FM1985.

    This is due to trees that are next to the highway.
    Chambers and Jefferson Counties, FM1406 05-05-10 12’ max width between FM1663 and FM365 during the hours of 6:10-7:10 am and 4:00-5:05 pm M-F.
    All other times: Over 12’ wide: Law enforcement escorts are required between FM1663 and FM365.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Chambers County, FM1663 04-11-91 No weight between SH61 and IH10.
    Hardin County, S.BU96 SB to US96 NB in Silsbee 08-31-10 There is no access traveling S.BU96 SB to US96 NB in Silsbee.
    Hardin County, SH326 vs FM326 in Angelina County 05-04-07 All routes traveling US69 SB to SH326 SB must include the town name of Kountze in the route.

    FM326 east of Lufkin in Angelina County is being confusing with SH326.
    Hardin County, FM770 08-14-14 No permits between FM1003 and SH326.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Jasper County, City of Jasper 10-27-89 16' max width through the City of Jasper between 7:30-8:30 a.m. and 3:00-4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Jefferson County 09-24-10 FYI:Jefferson County requires a permit for oversize/over weight loads to travel on county roads.

    Jefferson County, City of Beaumont 09-24-10 FYIThe City of Beaumont requires a permit for oversize/over weight loads to travel on city streets.
    Movers may contact Lucius Davis this permit and information about these roads: (409) 785-4739.
    Jefferson County, City of Beaumont 10-13-97 No width, no height, and/or no length in Beaumont between the hours of 7-9 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
    This does not apply to overweight loads.

    Jefferson County, City of Beaumont 09-24-10 FYI:Main Street in Beaumont is permanently closed to all oversized/overweight loads.
    Jefferson County, City of Port Arthur 05-21-09 Over 12’ wide, over 18’ high, and/or over legal weights traveling on any state maintained road in Port Arthur city limits are under the following conditions:

    1) Daylight movement only without prior approval
    2) No movement 6am-9am or 4pm-6pm.
    3) The mover must notify the City of Port Arthur Field Operations Division (409) 983-8673, 24 hours in advance of moving within the city.
    Jefferson County, SH73 12-02-04 16’10" max height SB or 18’6" max height NB through the US69/96/287 intersection.

    This is due to an overhead sign.
    Jefferson and Orange Counties, SH73/SH87 SB (Rainbow Bridge) 12-08-08 All oversized loads must travel on center of bridge. (This does not apply to loads that are overweight only.)
    All oversized loads must move between 9am and 3pm; they cannot move any other time. (This does not apply to loads that are overweight only.)

    14' max width over bridge.
    14' wide: must have rear escort.
    Under 14' wide: no escort required.



    This is a permanent restriction.
    Jefferson County, SH82 on the Intracoastal Waterway Bridge in Port Arthur 09-12-11 Over 11' wide: A flagman is required to warn oncoming traffic while the load travels on the center of the bridge to cross the Intracoastal Waterway in Port Arthur.
    The Intracoastal Waterway bridge is located approximately 1 mile south of SH87.
    Jefferson County, SH87 01-12-90 No permits between the Galveston/Jefferson County line and PR69.

    This road is closed to all traffic.
    Jefferson County, SH87 12-02-13 11' max width southbound between S.SH73 and ¾ mile south of S.SH73.
    Jefferson County, SH347 NB to US69 SB 04-14-09 There is no access traveling SH347 NB to US69 SB.
    Jefferson County, FM365 05-05-10 12’ max width between FM1406 and US90 during the hours of 6:10-7:10 am and 4:00-5:05 pm M-F.
    All other times: For all loads over 12’ wide: Law enforcement escorts are required between FM1406 and US90.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Jefferson and Chambers Counties, FM1406 05-05-10 12’ max width between FM1663 and FM365 during the hours of 6:10-7:10 am and 4:00-5:05 pm M-F.
    All other times: Over 12’ wide: Law enforcement escorts are required between FM1663 and FM365.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Liberty County, US59 NB to FM2025 NB 02-26-09 No lowboy type trailers traveling US59 NB to FM2025 NB in Cleveland.
    Detour (up to 16’ high): "...US59n, Cleveland: Crossunder @ N.LP573, US59s, FM2025n..."

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Liberty County, JCT SH146 & FM1413 12-20-05 65' max length for the following turns at JCT SH146 & FM1413:
  • FM1413 EB to SH146 NB
  • FM1413 EB to SH146 SB
  • Liberty County, SH321/BS105 EB to FM787 NE 09-01-09 In Cleveland: 65’ max length SH321/BS105 EB to FM787 EB.
    Liberty County, FM770 03-15-13 58,420 lbs max GVW between W.US90 and FM563.
    Liberty County, FM787 02-24-14 No width between SH321/BS105 in Cleveland and FM2518.
    Liberty County, FM834 07-02-08 Lowboy type trailers must use caution when crossing the railroad between N.FM770 and S.FM770 in Hull.
    Newton County, SH63 12-18-08 All over width loads must have front and rear escorts when crossing the truss bridge over the Sabine River at the LA/TX line.
    This is in addition to all of the other normal truss bridge conditions that apply (using the center of bridge, flagman, etc.).
    Orange County, IH10 10-13-97 Curfew: No width, no height, and/or no length from the Jefferson County line to SH12 between the hours of 7-9 am and 4-6 pm Monday through Friday. This is in the Vidor area.
    This does not apply to overweight permits.

    Orange County, IH10 WB to SH87 NB 10-27-94 16' max width and/or 90' max length traveling IH10 WB to SH87 NB.

    This is a permanent restriction.

    This is due to a sharp turn.
    Orange County, IH10/US90 08-18-11 16' max width into/out of Louisiana.
    Orange County, IH10 08-13-07 16' max height into/out of Louisiana.
    This is to bridge heights over IH10 in Louisiana.
    Orange and Jefferson Counties, SH73/SH87 SB (Rainbow Bridge) 12-08-08 All oversized loads must use center of bridge. (This does not apply to loads that are overweight only.)
    Alloversized loads must move between 9am and 3pm; they cannot move any other time. (This does not apply to loads that are overweight only.)

    14' max width over bridge.
    14' wide: must have rear escort.
    Under 14' wide: no escort required.


    This is a permanent restriction.

    Orange County, SH73/SH87 12-29-09 Over width, over height, and/or over length loads must travel on SH87/SH73 only between 9am to 3pm from the Jefferson/Orange County line to SH62; they must not move any other time.
    This restriction also affects traveling NB when crossing the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge over the Neches River at the Jefferson/Orange County line.

    This is a permanent restriction.

    Orange County, SH73/SH87

    03-12-14 No width between Caldwell Dr and S.SH62 in Bridge City.
    Caldwell Dr is located approximately ½ mile south of FM1442.
    Orange County, FM105 03-28-07 Lowboy type trailers must use caution at RR crossing located approximately 1 mile south of IH10.

    Orange County, FM1132

    01-06-14 65' max length and/or no lowboy type trailers at the RR crossing located approximately ¼ mile south of SH12.
