Motor Vehicle Director
Brett Bray is director of the Motor Vehicle Division.
Bray began as licensing director when the division was the Texas Motor Vehicle Commission. He managed the licensing program, supervised the licensing staff and acted as hearings examiner. He became division director in October 1993.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration and graduating summa cum laude from St. Edward’s University, Bray earned a law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law. He is a member of the College of the State Bar and is
certified in administrative law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Bray is a licensed attorney, a member of the Travis County Bar Association, and serves on numerous state and county bar committees. He has served three terms as president of the National Association of Motor Vehicle Boards and Commissions. He
also serves on the board of directors of Capitol Credit Union and is a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association.
An Amarillo native, Bray grew up in Dripping Springs. He and his wife, Linda, spend their spare time working on the family ranch in the Hill Country.
